Sant MiraBai



Sant MiraBai (1498 - 1547) was a Rajput princess who lived in the north Indian state of Rajasthan. She was a devout follower of Lord Krishna. MiraBai was one of the foremost exponents of the Prema Bhakti (Divine Love) and an inspired poetess. She sang in vraja-bhasha, sometimes mixed with rajasthani, in praise of Giridhara Gopala (Shri Krishna), her lord for whom she developed in her heart the most intense love and devotion.MiraBai was born in 1504 AD at Chaukari village in Merta District of Rajasthan. Merta was a small state in Marwar, Rajasthan ruled by the Ranthors, great devotees of Vishnu. Her father, Ratan Singh, was the second son of Rao Duda ji, a descendent of Rao Jodha ji Rathor, the founder of Jodhpur.

Rao Dhuhad (son of Rao Asthan) once attacked on “Godyana” near Kannoj to get his old state back from Mugals but he could not success in that. On his return he brought his kuldevi “Chakreshwari’s” statue from Karnat and established under a tree of Neem (Scientific Name - Azadirachta indica) in Nagana village. Because of this all Rathores worship Neem as well. A holy tree for Rathores. Because of the name of village(Nagana), kuldevi Chakreshwari is well known by the name Nagnechiya Maa. Generally in all villages where Rathores live they have a common Than (Temple) of Nagnechiya Mata.

This is a story about Bhagwan Mahaveera when he was a monk. He used to fast, meditate and perform penance. He was traveling barefoot from place to place and village to village.

Once Bhagwan Mahaveera decided to go to the village of Vachala. On his way there, he would have to go through a forest where there was a poisonous snake named Chandkaushik. It was said that Chandkaushik could kill a person or animal just by casting its evil and angry glance at them. All the people of the villages near that forest lived in absolute fear.

BALI, the grandson of Prahlada was a very valorous and mighty asura. By his penance and might, he conquered the whole world. Indra and other gods fearing that he and the asuras would conquer all the three worlds, went to Lord Vishnu for help. Lord Vishnu was then born as a dwarf Vamana in the household of a brahman priest. He went to Bali on growing up and asked for alms. Bali was delighted to offer him anything he requested even though his royal guru warned him that it was Lord Vishnu.

How to Know Jains Tirthankara, Yaksha and Yakshini

In Jainism, a tirthankara is a saviour and spiritual teacher of the dharma (righteous path). The word tirthankara signifies the founder of a tirtha, which is a fordable passage across the sea of interminable births and deaths, the saṃsāra.

 According to Jains, a tirthankara is a rare individual who has conquered the saṃsāra, the cycle of death and rebirth, on his own and made a path for others to follow. After understanding the true nature of the Self or soul, the Tīrthaṅkara attains Kevala Jnana (omniscience), and the first Tirthankara refounds Jainism. Tirthankara provides a bridge for others to follow the new teacher from saṃsāra to moksha (liberation).

According to Hindu mythology, Virabhadra or Veerabhadra was a super being created by the wrath of Rudra (Shiva), when he stepped in to destroy the Yagna (fire sacrifice) of Daksha, after his daughter Dakshayani (Sati) - consort of Shiva, self-immolated in yagna fire. Along with him was created, his consort Bhadrakali, from the wrath of Devi.

In NARASIMHA Avatar, Lord Vishnu incarnates himself as a semi-man,semi-lion in this world. The king of demons(asuras), Hiranyakasyapu, wanted to become immortal and wanted to remain young forever. To this end, he meditated for Lord Brahma and because of his severe penance, the gods were frightened and asked Brahma to pacify the king. Brahma was impressed by his austerity and granted him a wish. Hiranyakasyapu wished that he be killed neither by a man or beast, nor in daylight or at night and neither inside or outside a building.

The Stoning of the Devil (Arabic: رمي الجمرات‎ ramī al-jamarāt, lit. "stoning of the jamarāt [place of pebbles]") is part of the annual Islamic Hajj pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. During the ritual, Muslim pilgrims throw pebbles at three walls (formerly pillars), called jamarāt, in the city of Mina just east of Mecca. It is one of a series of ritual acts that must be performed in the Hajj. It is a symbolic reenactment of Abraham's hajj, where he stoned three pillars representing the temptation to disobey God and preserve Ishmael.

Hephaestus was the god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals and metallurgy and fire. There were numerous celebrations on his honor and he was worshipped in all the manufacturing and industrial centers of Greece and especially Athens. He was the son of Zeus and Hera and his brother was Ares. Hera gave birth to him on her own because she got jealous when Zeus had given birth to Athena who came out of his head. He was very ugly and when he tried to rape the goddess Athena he ejaculated on Gaia who gave birth to a child named Erichthonius who was given to Athena after birth to be raised as her son. Hephaestus was married to Aphrodite, the most beautiful goddess, because of Zeus who wanted her married because he was afraid all the other male gods would quarrel over her for her beauty. She didn't want him so she had other lovers as his brother Ares.

After the demi-gods and demons had churned the oceans to extract the nectar that would give them immortality, a fight over the possession of the urn containing the nectar ensued between them. Vishnu realised that if the squabble continued for long then the nectar would spill out and be lost forever. He also did not want the demons to drink any of the nectar, as that would firmly entrench the forces of evil in the world. Hence he appeared on the scene as Mohini, a woman of breath-taking beauty and allure. Both the demi-gods and the demons stopped fighting and began to ogle at her. Flaunting her charms, Mohini convinced both the demi-gods and the demons that she would distribute the nectar equitably.

In Greek mythology, Ares is the son of Zeus and Hera. Though often referred to as the Olympian god of war, he is more accurately the god of savage war, or bloodlust, or slaughter personified. Among the Greeks Ares was always distrusted and although Ares' half-sister Athena was also considered to be a war deity, Athena's stance was that of strategic warfare while Ares' tended to be the unpredictable violence of war. His birthplace and true home was placed far off, among the barbarous and warlike Thracians, to whom he withdrew after he was discovered on a couch with Aphrodite.

Goddess Lalita is considered as the Hindu Goddess of beauty and enjoyment. She comes in the third position among the Dasha Mahavidyas and also known by the names Tripurasundari and Shodashi. Goddess Lalita Tripurasundari is also one of the nine forms of goddess worship on Navaratri. Goddess Lalitha is assumed to be the divine energy of Sri Chakra. In the pictures, she is depicted as a sixteen year old extremely beautiful goddess who blesses mankind with sixteen advices. Moreover this is the age of perfection and maturity.

Bālā Tripurasundarī, Kumārikā ('the magnificent goddess') or simply Bālā ('child') is the daughter of the Hindu goddess Tripura Sundari, the consort of Lord Kameshwara. She was born from the goddess and Sri Kameshwara. She is a form of the goddess Ashokasundari.

Hermes is the son of Zeus and Maia who was a nymph, one of the Pleiades, daughters of Atlas, taking refuge in a cave of Mount Kyllini in Arcadia. Hermes was born on Mount Kyllini in Arcadia. On his first day he escaped from the blanket that his mother had wrapped around him and went to Thessaly where he stole some cattle from Apollo's herd and hid in a cave where he created his first lyre from a cow' s intestines and a tortoise shell. Apollo complained to Maia that her son had stolen his cattle, but Hermes had already returned in his mother's blanket so she refused to believe Apollo's accusations. Zeus took the side of Apollo but when Hermes began to play music on the lyre that he had invented, Apollo, a god of music, fell in love with the instrument and offered to allow exchange of the cattle for the lyre. Hence, Apollo became a master of the lyre and Hermes invented the syrinx, a pipe-instrument which was also acquired by Apollo later on by exchanging it with a caduceus.

Aphrodite is the classical Greek goddess of love, lust and beauty. She was born from the foam of the sea near Pafos in Cyprus covering a part of Uranus' body (his testicles) that were cut off by his son Kronos. After the testicles fell in the sea near the island of Kithira they were led by the water to Cyprus and from the foam covering them the most beautiful woman of all made her appearance, the goddess named Aphrodite.

Maa Boot Bhavani Maataji

Mataji (The great Mother Goddess) in one of the incarnations has blessed this world in the form of Maa But Bhavani. 

It is believed in most parts of Gujarat that in this incarnation Mata was born to Deval Maa and Bapal Petha. It is further believed that she also incarnated herself as her siblings Bahucharaji Devi and Balad Devi. She has been honoured and remembered for generations today with her numerous temples and the prime and the most important amongst them being at Arnej, Gujarat.

 The myth says that Zeus had swallowed his first wife Metis when he found out that she was pregnant. He was afraid that the prophecy of his son taking his throne would come true if the child was a boy. In remorse, he asked another god to split his head from where Athens popped out, a beautiful full-grown daughter, dressed in golden battle armor. She soon became his favorite and the only one of his children that Zeus ever entrusted with his magic shield and the secret of where his lightening bolts were stored. Athena remained his constant ally and fierce protector, promoting his interests, serving as his advisor.
