Bhaktamara Stotra is a famous Jain Sanskrit prayer. It was composed by Acharya Manatunga (seventh century CE) The name Bhaktamara comes from a combination of two sanskrit names, "Bhakta" (Devotee) and "Amar" (Immortal).
The prayer praises Rishabhanatha(adinath) , the first Tirthankara of Jainism. There are forty-eight verses in total. The last verse gives the name of the author Manatunga.

Birth Myth: During the giving out of the ambrosia to the gods, one of the Asuras (demons) disguised himself as a god and sat among them. Just as he took a mouthful of ambrosia, Surya and Chandra realized the fraud, and Vishnu quickly cut him in two, thereby giving us Rahu and Ketu. However the power of the ambrosia caused the two pieces to continue to be alive, and so Brahma changed them into planets and sent them to the heavens. Rahu continues to be the enemy of Surya and Chandra. Eclipses are when Rahu tries to devour them.

The great mantra dedicated to Shiva as Mrityunjaya is found in the Rig Veda. It is called the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra, the Great Death-Conquering mantra. It is a mantra that has many names and forms. It is called the Rudra mantra, referring to the furious aspect of Shiva; the Tryambakam mantra, alluding to Shiva's three eyes; and its is sometimes known as the Mrita-Sanjivini mantra because it is a component of the "life-restoring" practice given to the primordial sage Shukra after he had completed an exhausting period of austerity. The Maha Mrityunjaya mantra is hailed by the sages as the heart of the Veda. Along with the Gayatri mantra it holds the highest place among the many mantras used for contemplation and meditation.

Lord Shukra is also known as Shukracharya. Sukra is described variously mounted on a camel, horse or crocodile. He holds a stick, beads and a lotus and sometimes a bow and arrow. The planets Mercury and Saturn are considered friendly to Shukra, the Sun and Moon are hostile and Jupiter and the rest are considered neutral.
